AT-AT

10050 Credits

In designing it's primary ground assault vehicles, the Empire knew that fear and superstition would play a big part in destroying the moral of those who might oppose it's ground forces. To this end, Palpatine approved a series of vehicles that resembled, more than anything else, massive beasts that dwarfed any repulsor lifts of crawlers in use by the worlds of the Old Republic. Awesome when on the move, shaking the ground with each step, these walkers in stilled fear into even the most hardened enemy troops.

The Imperial All Terrain Armoured Transport (AT-AT) is a formidable battle field vehicle. Assembled at the Kuat Drive Yards to exacting specifications, the AT-AT is the lagers of the walkers designs, and can preform equally well in desert, forest or snow conditions. Controlled by pilots in the forward "head" section of the vehicle, this impressive metal monster moves along at a rapid and unstoppable rate towards it's target, crushing any thing and everything in its path beneath its massive durasteel feet. The great height from which it is controlled allows the AT-AT crew to see over obstacles that might hamper other vehicles, such as trees or the low buildings that would be encountered during urban battle situations. The AT-AT's head section is connected to the main body by a flexible armoured tunnel resembling a neck, and this flexibility permits the control cockpit to swing from side to side and up and down as if the beast were peering around for its victims

The standard crew consists of an AT-AT Commander, a pilot and a co-pilot, who is primarily responsible for weapons.

Two fixed heavy laser cannons, targeted via head movement, are mounted beneath the "chin" area of the control head. On the cockpit's sides are mounted steerable medium blasters that can be brought to bear by computer-aided targeting. This allows the AT-AT to fire in multiple directions, at multiple targets, at once.

AT-AT walkers load and drop the troops they carry by "kneeling" to allow the use of a ramp in the main body. In this way, battle ready stormtroopers "hit the ground running, weapons drawn, initially shielded from enemy fire by the massive bulk of the walker above and around them. Side-mounted hatches allow personnel to enter or exit the vehicle via the boarding ramps of imperial landing platforms.

AT-PT

1600 Credits

The AT-PT (All Terrain Personal Transport) was an experimental single-person walker design which was originally designed by the Old Republic. It was meant to turn a single soldier into an armed force that could take on and defeat an entire squad of troops. Ultimately, the AT-PT project was cancelled. The majority of the Old Republic's AT-PTs were on the Katana Dreadnaught Fleet, after it was lost the momentum to furthering the AT-PT project was lost as well. Imperial Engineers later used many of its concepts when they were designing the AT-AT and the AT-ST. The AT-PT was intended to be a major component of the Old Republic's ground forces, also they planned to assign platoons of soldiers to AT-PTs, which would give a single platoon the firepower of nearly a company of ground troops; AT-PT platoons were to be equivalent to a light mechanized infantry units, but at a substantially lower cost. Also, with the speed and their extended comlink ranges, the platoon could patrol a far larger area than other comparable ground forces could.

The AT-PT can do impressively well against conventional ground forces. The Project designers developed the walker to be used for open ground, shallow water, jungle, mountain terrain and urban areas. The independently adjusting Leg Suspension System allows this vehicle to scramble over inclines and obstacles that would normally block repulsorlift and treaded vehicles. The Drive Legs can be extended upward for high-speed movement or to give the Pilot a much superior observation position, or the opposite can be done, where the walker is put into a "half crouch" position for superior balance compared to the larger AT-ST. Small side hatches allow access into the AT-PT. The command pod is equipped with a primitive sensor system for navigation and also the pod houses the Main Drive Unit. the scout walker issued to protect and support the ground troops and guard the flank and vulnerable under belly of the AT-AT walkers. An AT-ST can also employ the sharp claws on each foot to slice through barricades and other obstacles.

AT-ST

3600 Credits

Ihe AT-ST is a relatively lightweight vehicle and a vital component of the Imperial ground forces due to its speed, manoeuvrability and precise weaponry. Each scout walkeris manned by a pilot and gunner, who enter the command pod via a small hatch on the topside of the armoured module.

The scout walker issued to protect and support the ground troops and guard the flank and vulnerable under belly of the AT-AT walkers. An AT-ST can also employ the sharp claws on each foot to slice through barricades and other obstacles.

Unfortunately the scout walker has several limitations, the vehicle's gyro balance system is highly susceptible to damage, and its thin legs have difficulty navigating steep terrain. Thus enemy troops have found methods of toppling the AT-ST by using hidden trenches and other traps aimed at the legs.

AT-TE

4100 Credits

An intimidating armored assault vehicle, the All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) saw its explosive debut on the battlefields of Geonosis, at the start of the Clone Wars. Specialized Republic drop ships carried the lumbering walker craft into the thick of combat, unleashing them to crawl inexorably toward enemy fortifications.

The front of the walker is lined with four ball-turret laser cannons, while a single heavy projectile cannon is turret-mounted on the vehicle's dorsal surface. Its rear fire arc is protected by a pair of laser cannon turrets. Though the walker's armor can easily deflect small arms fire, tanksmasher rockets can pierce an AT-TE's armor and destroy its complex propulsion mechanisms. The six legs of the AT-TE move the low-built vehicle at speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour. Contained within its armored hull are 20 clone troopers ready to disembark for combat at a moment's notice. It requires a crew of one pilot, one spotter, and four gunners or support crewmen. An additional exterior gunner controls the projectile cannon.

The walker's plodding pace allows it to penetrate energy shields, which are effective at deflecting the high-velocity repulsorlift systems of flying or hovering craft. The AT-TE's armor is supplemented by electromagnetic shielding that protects the walker from ion cannon or EMP attacks. The walker, like the rest of the clone army's heavy armor, was developed in secret at Rothana Heavy Engineering, a clandestine subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards.

SPH-T

7200 Credits

Developed by the engineers of Rothana, technological partners of the Kaminoans, the SPHA-T stands for "self propelled heavy artillery -- turbolaser." The vehicle's central cannon is modular, allowing different artillery units to be fitted with different weapon types, such as ion cannons, anti-vehicle laser cannons or concussion missile launchers. The turbolaser assembly was designed first, and it being the most power-intensive, dictated the design specifications of the walker carriage assembly. The prolonged blast stream of this turbolaser design necessitated a gargantuan reactor core. The cannon's power and support equipment requirements are so robust that it prevented its use aboard large starships. Considerably larger than the AT-TE walker, the SPHA-T provides long-range surface-to-surface and surface-to-air fire, coordinated by a crack team of clone troopers. A battery of SPHA-Ts were responsible for shooting down the immense Trade Federation core ships that attempted to escape the first battle of the Clone Wars.

The articulated leg design offers traction and stability over a wide variety of environment types, and cannot be defeated through anti-repulsorlift electromagnetic attacks the way speeders can. The SPHA-T requires a crew of fifteen clone troopers to operate. Some models are equipped with 12 retractable antipersonnel blasters which necessitate a gunnery crew of ten.

Sandcrawler

6100 Credits

The large sandcrawlers were transported to Tatooine by the first settlers, and are now used mainly by the Jawas. The transport is powered by large steam-powered nuclear fusion engines and giant treads to move across the desert wastlands of Tatooine. The sandcrawlers were initially used to haul ore. When the mining venture on Tatooine completely failed and the sandcrawlers were abandoned, the scavenging Jawas took controle of the large vehicles, they modified and repaired the sandcrawlers to suit their requirements.

The Jawas have created a vast labyrinth of alcoves in the crawlers, where they eat, sleep and store machinery, spare parts and also captured droids. The Jawas load almost anything they find useful into the crawler by the extendable magnetic suction tube (originally used for loading ore) or via the retractable front-loading hatch.

Because of the dense steel hull and as it is virtually unstoppable the Jawas are completely protected from their natural enemies the Tusken Raiders. However the crawler are unable to withstand the precise attacks of the highly trained Imperial Storm Troopers.

Until now it is unknown how many of the sandcrawlers are still in working order, as they rarely travel together. However once a year the Jawas meet at a secret location in the Dune Sea, where they trade their goods with each other.

Sail Barge

3550 Credits

Although the sail barges are manufactured in a variety of makes and models their mostly wealthy owners like to customise their vehicles with a series of unique modifications. Most of these sail barges utilize three-chambered repulsorlift engines to race over any flat terrain, including water, sand, grass, snow and ice, at speeds up to 100 km/h. Many are outfitted with immense, retractable sails capableof catching the wind for more leisurely trips. Typical sail barges can float as high as 10 meters above ground, have little armour, and lack weapons of any kind.

Jabba the Hutt used his sail barge to host long, decadent parties during cruises over the oceans of sand found on Tatooine.

To impress his guests, he had the vehicle outfitted with all the trappings of wealth, including expensive tapestries and sculptures.

The Hutt's sail barge contained three decks. On the topmost main deck, Jabba mounted a large heavy blaster cannon and numerous antipersonnel blasters which were mainly used to fend of or attack Tusken Raiders, moisture farmers, Jawas and other Tatooine natives. To avoid Imperial entanglements while transporting illegal goods an advanced sensor suite was installed on the main deck.

The passenger deck, where Jabba held his parties, was surrounded by retractable viewports which provide sweeping views of the Tatooine desert. This part of the sail barge also contained the massive banquet hall, Jabba's personal chambers, the kitchen and a fully stocked pantry. The bottom deck contained the engines and steering systems, which could be remotely controlled from Jabba's suite, the banquet hall, or the upper deck.

After Jabba's death at the hands of the Rebels, Jawas descended on the wreckage and stole the surviving weapons, huge sections of the armour plating, and anything else they could find.

Ewok Glider

435 Credits

While most outsiders consider the Ewoks a primitive species, the short stocky humanoids have learned to use their natural resources to manufacture a wide range of incredible tools. Among their many inventions are catapults, numerous handheld weapons, expansive treevillages, and a variety of traps. Their most stunning creation, however, is undoubtebly the versatile hang glider.

An Ewok begins constructing a hang glider by stalking a killing a number of large animals. These creatures are skinned, and their pelts strached and dried until they form a durable leather. The skins are then sewn together and connected to a simple, skeletal framwork.

Originally, the hang gliders may have been used simply to transport Ewoks across the forests. Eventually, they began carrying rocks, spears, and slings for use in hunting small creatures from above. The Ewoks soon realized that these same weapons could also be used in defense against towering monsters such as the Gorax. Thus, when the Ewoks agreed to aid the Rebels, they used their extensive experience with their remakable hang gliders to gain an advantage over the land-bound Stormtroopers.

Desert Skiff

1340 Credits

Although there are numerous variations on the standard skiff design, a typical skiff has an open deck with a simple controle station near the rear. Because of the easy of use the skiffs are often controlled by labour droids.

Most skiffs utilize a single repulsorlift engine for propulsion, and are controlled by a pair of steering vanes connected to the rear of the hull. Over 100 tons of cargo can be loaded on the flat deck by magnetic lifters. During transport the cargo is restrained by magnetic fasteners. On some worlds, skiffs are also used as mass transit vehicles or even pleasure caft. When used for these purposes up to 16 seats can be installed on the deck.

The skiff lacks armour and heavy weaponry, and therefore it acts poorly in any combat situation. However they can be heavily modified due to their simple structure. Small mounted weapons can be attached to the deck, although these seldom make a difference in combat. Jabba also had extendable gangplanks installed on his skiffs to allow him to feed the Sarlacc with ease and more spectacle to the invited guest onboard of Jabba's sail barge.

Flash Speeder

1520 Credits

A landspeeder used by the Naboo Royal Security Forces to patrol city streets. Maneuverable and relatively fast, the Flash speeder is perfect for pusuing criminals and responding to emergencies. The single laser blaster is rarely used, but the vehicle can carry upto four armed Royal Security officers.

The Flash speeder's twin repulsorlift engines are fine-tuned to allow a pilot maximum control through Theed's narrow streets. The craft normally has a flight ceiling of less than a meter, but can attain a maximum height of two meters. It is a slightly modified version of a civilian SoroSuub model.

Gian Speeder

1925 Credits

The Gian speeder is a repulsorlift vehicle used by Naboo's volunteer security force for crowd control and urban defense. It is a heavier design than the sleek Flash speeder. The open-air canopy seats four soldiers. Flanking the sides of the craft are standard laser cannons. Modified models come equipped with a hood-mounted laser cannon capable of penetrating the armor of a Trade Federation battle tank. During the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo, the resistance groups organized by Captain Panaka and Queen Amidala employed Flash and Gian speeders to infiltrate the besieged city of Theed.

Gian speeders are typically only called into service in dire emergencies, as they are heavy vehicles with impressive armaments. The heavy strike cannon and twin repeater blasters are more than enough to handle civilian craft. Medium-grade hull plating allows the Gian to slough off glancing hits from laserfire. Its twin repulsor thrust pods are tucked away behind the main cabin to reduce the vehicle's target silhouette.

T-16 Sky-Hopper

2200/2350 Credits

The key to the skyhopper's high-altitude performance is the marriage of efficient twin DCJ-45 repulsorlift engines for lift and an Incom E-16/x ion engine for thrust. These deliver the airspeeder's impressive speeds in excess of 1,000 kilometers per hour, and its flight ceiling of 300 kilometers. Its internal cabin is pressurized to withstand such sub-orbital travel.

The standard skyhopper bears no weapons, but Incom makes available a number of standard upgrade packages that has seen the T-16 pressed into security, escort and policing duties on several worlds.

T-47 Air Speeder

3000 Credits

Rebel Alliance technicians scavenged their own arsenal in adapting the civilian T-47 for combat duty. The venerable Y-wing fighter became a prime donor to the T-47 program, offering refitted cockpit modules, control surfaces and armor plate to the snowspeeder. This cut down on the cross-training time required to turn Alliance starfighter aces into Alliance snowspeeder aces.
To compensate for the added weight of armor and weaponry, the Alliance fitted the T-47 with an advanced powerplant and repulsorlift engines. The extremely maneuverable craft had a flight ceiling of 175 kilometers, a top speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour and a combat speed of 600 kilometers per hour.
